L-ISA Gets Brought to EartH
The Evolutionary Arts Hackney (EartH) is an exciting cultural venue in Dalston in the heart of East London. The restoration and redesign of the art-deco-cinema-laid-derelict for 40 years is a project brought to life by Auro Foxcroft and the team behind Village Underground. EartH is partly funded through the social investment community to support the project’s ambitious arts and social impact work to serve the local community, giving space, resources, and new opportunities, particularly to young people in Hackney. It’s a multi-functional venue made up of three main areas: On the ground floor, EartH Hall, a multi-purpose 1200 capacity dedicated events space; upstairs, EartH Theatre is a 750 capacity tiered seated venue with jaw-dropping, original Art Deco features throughout, and a vibrant new restaurant and social space.
The Challenge
Built on the belief that art brings change, progress, and transformation, EartH was curated to span many different genres and voices, encompassing an international live music program, a variety of performance art, special talks and debates, comedy, and film. Because of the diversity of the live material, the renovation required a sound system that would work well with the diverse programming planned.
The Solution
L-ISA was the perfect match to raise the experiential value at EartH. The setup comprised a frontal system of five hangs of seven Kara flown equidistantly across the front of the stage, with a central subsystem of four KS28 flown in an end-fire configuration in front and above the central Kara hang. Positioned along the stage lip, ten X8 provide frontfill. 12 Syva provides the surround system, four per side, evenly spaced and mounted along the left, right, and rear walls of the theater. Completing the setup is an overhead system of eight X8 hung from the auditorium ceiling.
EartH’s concert hall also benefited from traditional left/right flown arrays of four Kara topped with an SB18 on each side and four central ground-stacked KS28 subwoofers, with four ARCS Wide as delays.

The Result
L-ISA has opened a whole new side to live performance and offers artists new tools for their shows, making EartH an attractive venue to perform in. The fittingly evolutionary L-ISA system now offers EartH’s audiences enhanced clarity, more natural sound, and a more comprehensive sound panorama.

The philosophy behind EartH has a focus on presenting some of the best artistic talent and experiences that can make us think twice and leave us inspired. L-ISA brings an incredible audio dimension to support these performances with its signature Hyperreal Sound.
