CHANGSHA, China — April 2025 — Following the phenomenal success of ‘Singer 2024’, Hunan TV has launched ‘The Next Singer’, a qualifying competition to select new talents for the upcoming ‘Singer 2025′ season. The show features returning show favourites Faouzia Ouihya and Chanté Moore alongside established Chinese powerhouses Na Ying and Wang Feng, continuing the series’ commitment to showcasing world-class vocal performances.
Building on the series’ distinctive approach to showcasing genuine vocal talent, ‘The Next Singer’ continues to distinguish itself in the Chinese entertainment landscape through its dedication to authentic live performances. The show’s emphasis on presenting genuine vocal artistry makes the immersive audio experience provided by L-Acoustics L-ISA technology particularly meaningful. This technical foundation ensures the show’s celebrated ethos—”What you hear is what you see”—is delivered with pristine clarity to every seat in the 2,000-capacity Hunan TV studio, allowing audiences to connect more deeply with each performer’s unique talents.

Technical excellence remains at the forefront of the production’s audio design philosophy. The L-ISA scene configuration, deployed by Beijing Dadong Huahan Audio Visual Equipment Co., Ltd with technical support from L-Acoustics Certified Provider Distributor Rightway Audio Consultants (RAC), features three arrays of six K2 enclosures in the centre position, flanked by two hangs of eight Kudo boxes per side. Low-frequency reinforcement is delivered through three flown arrays of four KS28 subwoofers positioned behind the centre K2 cluster.
“K2’s advanced rigging accessories allow our technical teams to deploy the system efficiently,” explains Li Wenxi, Senior System Engineer from RAC. “The variable curvature adjustments enable us to precisely target sound to each section of the studio audience seating areas while the Panflex horizontal directivity technology helps us avoid unwanted reflections from the studio’s metallic set design elements, which was a critical consideration in maintaining audio clarity throughout the performance space.”

Drawing from experience gained during ‘Singer 2024’, which garnered over 230 million views and dominated social media discussions around performance authenticity, the technical team has refined their approach to immersive audio implementation. The result is a sound system that not only meets the demanding requirements of broadcast audio but creates an enveloping live experience that connects studio audiences more intimately with performers.
“Immersive audio has become an essential component of our production strategy,” notes He Biao, the show’s Sound System Director. “The ability to precisely place vocal and instrumental elements within a three-dimensional soundscape dramatically enhances the audience’s ability to distinguish subtle nuances in each performance—a crucial factor when evaluating contestants in a competition centred on vocal excellence.”
