Why ISB Theater Chose an L-Acoustics Professional Sound System Why ISB Theater Chose an L-Acoustics Professional Sound System...

What does a professional sound system have to do with community? Whether it’s a concert hall, a music festival, a house of worship, or a performing arts center, live event spaces bring people together. And there’s renewed focus on shared sound experiences—not just hearing music, but feeling it together in spaces designed to connect, inspire, and unify.

One powerful example of this notion is the recent transformation of the ISB Theater. Designed not only to serve students but also to act as a cultural hub for the wider community in northern Bangkok, the renovated theater now stands as a model for how sound can bring people together—both physically and emotionally.

Marc de Vries, Chief Financial Officer of International School Bangkok (ISB), says, “There’s no real theater facility in this area, so we think this school theater might function as a community theater as well.” And the goal wasn’t just about coverage. It was clarity, balance, and emotional resonance. According to de Vries, achieving the purest sound possible was essential.

Choosing the Right Professional Sound System

When it came time to upgrade the theater’s professional sound system, ISB considered five different audio companies, each offering speaker demonstrations. In the end, the school selected L-Acoustics, citing both the company’s reputation and the quality and characteristics of its products.

Having been extremely happy with the performance of their previous L-Acoustics Kiva II system, ISB chose to retain the speakers for the remodel. They worked with L-Acoustics to reconfigure the design, preserving their existing investment while ensuring optimized performance for the remodeled venue.

Eric Chua, APAC Sales Manager at L-Acoustics, noted, “Extending the life of the system and building on what’s already there is a big part of our sustainability effort. We’re not just about selling new gear. What we want is to help clients on their existing system to get the most value out of it, to avoid unnecessary waste. It’s good for the client and most importantly, it’s good for the environment.”

This commitment to sustainability, coupled with a deep understanding of how sound shapes emotional connection, makes L-Acoustics the ideal partner for community-focused projects like the ISB Theater.

Designing a Space Where Everyone Can Feel the Sound

To fine-tune the sound environment, ISB brought in L-Acoustics Certified Provider, Vision One, who used Soundvision modeling software to redesign the speaker configuration for even coverage and optimal clarity across the entire theater.

According to Akarat “Pete” Thitipattakul, Business Development Manager at Vision One, Milan-AVB streaming was also enhanced with the addition of P1 and LS10 to ensure better audio quality and system reliability, thereby ensuring smooth event performance.

For ISB, choosing the right professional sound system wasn’t just about technical excellence; it was about creating an inspiring space for students and the community alike.

With the remodel, ISB wanted to achieve the purest sound possible, so it was essential to choose the right professional sound system that could accomplish this. “We wanted to upgrade the theater to allow for the best possible sound in terms of the quality of performances,” says de Vries.

With the new system in place and the theater fully upgraded, the ISB Theater is ready to welcome school productions, musical performances, and public events, offering a stage where voices, stories, and music can come to life with emotional power and sonic precision.

A Shared Mission: Bringing Humans Together Through Sound

For L-Acoustics, projects like the ISB Theater are more than technical installations—they are living expressions of the company’s mission to connect humans through the best shared sound experiences. Whether in a stadium, a theater, a house of worship, or a school, L-Acoustics believes that sound should be felt equally by everyone—a guiding principle that transforms events into lasting emotional memories.

The impact of a well-designed performance space goes far beyond the stage. It creates a new gathering point, builds civic pride, and offers people of all ages a chance to come together in shared joy, reflection, and inspiration.

According to Sathit Kaivalvatana, Theater Manager at ISB, “When we use the system in the near future, the audience is going to be happy.”

In Asia and around the world, projects like this show how sound, sustainability, and community can go hand in hand, and that sound remains one of our most powerful tools to bring people together. By helping ISB realize its vision, L-Acoustics furthers its mission to connect humans socially and emotionally through exceptional sound.
